They said I wasn’t smart enough to go to college. I was told that I should go to trade school and become a key-punch operator – does anyone even know any key-punch operators? When I quit my first job, a member of my family was sure that no one would ever hire me.
Well, I’m here to tell you that persistence, drive, and creativity win.
I am more than fourth generation retail. After joining my mother’s lingerie business, I learned to guess bra sizes, got certified as a mastectomy fitter, and learned how to tailor bras. Following her passing, I saw a product and thought – “I can do better than that.” Crazy as it sounds, I went on a hike and happened to meet a design engineer. He introduced me to a patent attorney. I took everything I had and, with his help, got the patent for Bezi® Bra Discs as well as my first prototype mold.
Wholesale to small stores was great, but, I wanted more and have spent years learning about funnels, website building, CRM, customer retention management, as well as workflows, marketing, and social media. From learning to type on an electric typewriter to the computer. Wow, what a journey.
Yes, I am here to tell you that anything is possible – even for those of us who others thought could never succeed. When you have curiosity, interest in learning, and drive anything is possible.
